The Ocean Counsel<\/strong> is being developed, guided and inspired by marine researchers (or scientists or academics, whichever you prefer). By those who have spent years studying a few specific species, habitats, interactions, functions or ecosystems in depth \u2013 to advance our collective understanding of them. Some of them stand on the frontiers of our understanding of the oceans, and some are exploring how this knowledge can be applied to address specific problems. And yet, much of this knowledge remains within the academic institutions long after the research is completed. Instead of supporting companies, public authorities, decision-makers or organizations in answering tough questions \u2013 valuable knowledge gathers dust in researchers\u2019 offices.<\/p>

The Ocean Counsel was created to create a direct communication channel between those who study the environment, and those who shape it. We find that many stakeholders see value in direct engagement with researchers, while expertise is not always easily accessible. Through this network, and the systems and structures we employ, we aim to make it easier to establish effective and mutually beneficial collaborations across sectors, ensuring that knowledge reaches where it is needed.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
